Dear Applicant

Thank you for your interest in applying for the post of Chief Executive of The Community Housing Group (“TCHG”).

TCHG is a community-based organisation established in 2000 when Wyre Forest District Council decided to transfer its stock to an organisation newly formed for the purpose of managing and developing the stock in that area. In our 20 years, we have achieved much and have a proud history of innovation and delivery for our residents and service users in the Kidderminster and Stourport areas, whilst becoming an important player in the local economy.

We own and manage some 6000 homes and have a strong new build programme which will expand that number.

We are a diverse organisation managing general needs homes and also supported accommodation for older people, care leavers and those with learning disabilities; supporting our local communities and the local authority in a variety of ways; building new homes; providing contact centre and technology enabled care services to a range of older and vulnerable people; providing learning and development services to residents and supporting the long term unemployed into work; and operating a range of building repairs and grounds maintenance services.

Ray Brookes has led the organisation successfully over the last 20 years and developed its place as a strong player in the economy of the Wyre Forest area. He will be retiring at the end of June 2020. He has achieved much in his time as CEO and has enjoyed the support of some great colleagues across TCHG and developed a number of strong stakeholder relationships which the organisation benefits from today.

It is important that his successor displays the same community values, recognising the clear role we play as a community-based organisation, but involves the staff team in developing a clear and compelling vision for how to take the organisation forward, in a challenging operating environment. The Board is of the view that our good and improving financial strength, a strong leadership team, a dedicated staff team and strong stakeholder relationships mean that our best years lie ahead.

In short, we are looking for an engaging and inspiring leader with strong leadership skills who can help us to map out our future purpose, direction and priorities, as we start to develop our new Corporate strategy for the next three years.
